Foundations of Faith Rev. Bayless Conley - The Bible is God's Word - Trinity

The word bible means book. It consists of 66 individual books of various literary genres. These include letters, historical information, narratives, poetry, lyrics and apocalyptic literature, all of which deal with a topic. God compiled this book over a period of 1500 years - from 1400 BC to about 100 AD. Among the 40 authors are shepherds, fishermen, warriors, priests, prophets, kings, a doctor, a scribe, and a cupbearer. Such a wide-ranging collection of the literature of truth that is relevant to every generation of all cultures, nations and peoples, can only have been put together by the hand of God.

2 Timothy 3: 16-17 For all Scripture, given by God, is of service to doctrine, to correction, to improvement, to education in righteousness that the man of God is perfect, sent to all good work (LÜ),

The Bible is inspired by God
The words of the Bible, Old and New Testaments, come from God (2 Peter 1: 20-21).
The Bible is True, because it comes from God (Psalm 19: 8).

The Bible is the benchmark and guide to our lives
It is the owner's handbook on how to shape and enjoy life.
In the o.g. In words to Timothy, Paul says that the Bible is useful.

Because the Bible is God's Word, it must be our supreme authority in all matters.
The Bible is a book of the thoughts of God (Isaiah 55: 7-11) God and His Word Are One (John 1: 1).
God does not change His word, just as little does His Word Himself (1 Peter 1: 24-25; Psalm 33: 10-11).
The Holy Scripture, as God's written Word, is perfect. (Psalm 12: 6).
God's Word Provides Solutions to All Life Problems.

God's word has power.
It brings spiritual growth (1 Peter 2: 2).
It makes us disciples of Jesus and it sets us free. if we are certain of this fact (John 8: 31-32).
It causes faith (Romans 10:17).
It changes our thinking and brings about a transformation in our lives (Romans 12: 1-2 ).

God's word provides all that you need as a Christian for your spiritual life and development. (Matthew 4: 4).
God's Word contains promises for all we need (2 Peter 1: 3-4).
God speaks to us through His Word. He also works in our hearts and minds through His word (1 Thessalonians 2:13).

Christians believe in one God
Deuteronomy / Deuteronomy 6: 4 - Hear, 0 Israel: The LORD your God is one (Isaiah 43: 10-11, 44: 8 ).
The Bible proclaims that there is only one true God. All other gods and idols are seductions of Satan.

The One God Shows Himself in Three Different Persons
In the creation story, God said, Let us "(Genesis 1:11). God speaks of himself even elsewhere in the plural as well ( Genesis / 1 Moses 11: 6-7; Isaiah 6: 8) .
The Trinity includes: (compare Matthew 28:19).

God the Father
God the Son
God the Holy Spirit

When Jesus was baptized, the Holy Ghost descended upon him in physical form like a dove. At the same time, a voice came from heaven: "You are my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." (Luke 3:22) At that moment all three persons were present and different from each other (see also 2 Corinthians 13:14 ).

The Bible calls each of these three persons God.
Jesus is called God (John 1: 1,14; 14: 6-11). (see also Isaiah 9: 6).
The Holy Spirit is called God (Acts 5: 3-4).
Three distinct persons and roles constitute the one deity. The Bible bears witness to this doctrine, without explaining the details or the reasons for doing so.

Supernatural Life and Healing Dr. A. L. Gill - Knowing the Holy Spirit

We will study the gifts of the Holy Spirit as a spiritual lifestyle. The gifts of the Holy Spirit do not only encompass what happens between song singing and Discontinuation on Sunday. Rather, they are a lifestyle.

When we were born again, we became spiritually alive. We have soul and spirit, therefore we are spiritual beings. Every day of our lives, we live in the supernatural realm of the Spirit of God.

Know the Holy Spirit   Know the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is a real person
It's our job to get to know Him in a personal and intimate way. Paul wrote about the communion of the Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 13: 14b).

A New Way of Life
The gifts of the Holy Spirit are the foundation of a whole new way of life of the Spirit-filled believer. Just as Peter got out of his boat and walked across the water on the water, we have to set out from our cozy corners of natural life and walk on "spiritual waters." We are destined to live in spirit and all nine of His supernatural gifts 1 Samuel 10: 6 - And the Spirit of the LORD will come upon you to rejoice with them, and you will be transformed and become another man.
Ephesians 1 : 19,20 - Resurrection power is available to those who believe.

Jesus served through the Holy Spirit.

According to Philippians 2: 5-8, Jesus humbled himself and came as a human when he entered this earth. For a time, he did not value His rights and privileges as God and lived on this earth as a human being. No miracles from the first 30 years of his life are reported. When He was baptized by John the Baptist (see Mark 1: 10-11), the Holy Spirit came upon Him. Immediately, miracles began to be done in His service.
Mark 1:10 - And immediately, when He came out of the water, He saw that the sky opened and the spirit came down like a dove upon Him. Jesus, our example, anointed with the Holy Spirit, began his ministry with the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Luke 4:18 - The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he anointed me, to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent me to preach to the prisoners that they should be free, and the blind that they should see, and the broken one, that they should be free and single.

The same power for us today

Ephesians 1: 19,20 - And how overwhelmingly great is his power in us, which we believe because the power of his strength has become effective in us with which he has worked in Christ. Through them he raised him from the dead, and set him to his right hand in heaven.
Romans 8:11 - Now if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he will become the Christ of raise the dead, also bring to life your mortal bodies through the Spirit that dwells in you. Jesus says in Luke 24:49 that we should be "clothed" with power from above.
Joel prophesied, And after this I will pour out my Spirit over all flesh, and your sons and daughters shall prophesy, and your old men shall Have dreams, and your youths shall see faces, and at the same time I will pour out my spirit on servants and handmaids (Joel 3: 1-2).

Jesus said that they were done with power from above (Luke 24: 3) 49).

The Ephesians received this gift

Acts 19: 2-6 - To whom did he say," Do you have the Holy Ghost? received when you became a believer? They said to him: We have never heard that there is a Holy Ghost. And he asked her: What have you been baptized for? They answered: On the baptism of John. But Paul said, John baptized with the baptism of repentance, and told the people to believe in him who would come after him, that is, Jesus. When they heard that, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Ghost came upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.

Luke 11: 11-13 - "Where is there among you a father who offers a stone for his son when he asks for his bread? Or if he asks for a fish, offer a snake for the fish? Or who offers him a scorpion when he asks for an egg? Now if you, who are evil, can give good gifts to your children, how much more shall the Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him! "

Our Heavenly Father is ready to give you a gift.

Speaking in tongues (or languages)

Evidence of speaking in an unknown language has always accompanied the receipt of the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus said that this is a sign that follows those who believe. ... they will speak in new tongues (Mark 16: 17b).
Paul wrote that he was powerful in a celestial language, like angelic tongues (1 Corinthians 13: 1 a).
Paul explained that through the Holy Spirit has passed the path of the human mind, past his own mind.

The angels never utter the words in the praise of God.

1 Corinthians 14:14 - For when I pray in tongues, my spirit prays; but what I have in mind remains fruitless.
Romans 8: 26,27 - The spirit of our weakness also helps us, for we know not what to pray, how it is due; but the Spirit Himself represents us with unspeakable sighing.
We should keep the Word true and pray in the Spirit.
Ephesians 6: 17-18 - And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is it Word of God. Pray at all times with requests and supplications in spirit

We have to start talking.

When we receive the fulfillment of the Holy Ghost, we must also begin to speak; not in our own language, but in "other languages".
Acts   2: 4 - And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to preach in other languages as the Spirit gave them to utter. * There are two Pages: God's Share and the Share of Man.
All languages are made of words that are made of a combination of different tones, if the mind has to give us the aptitude or linguistic inspiration, as happened on the day of Pentecost we start to speak - but not in a language we speak, we need, like these early believers, to start making sounds audible.
As soon as we begin to focus our attention on Jesus and already on baptism We must also begin to speak in the Holy Spirit and we will be the ones who speak - just as they did on the day of Pentecost - and the Holy Spirit will give us the capacity to do so doing our part, as we begin to speak, God will always contribute His share and give us the ability. In this moment of faith, a miracle will happen in our mouth.

Say this prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for the gift of salvation! But Father, I want to receive every present you have for me! I want your gift of the Holy Spirit! I need this power in my life!
Lord Jesus, I ask you to baptize me in the Holy Spirit! I receive this gift in faith!
Right now, Father, I raise my hands to praise you. I open my mouth wide and begin to praise you, but not in a language I speak.
Just as on the day of Pentecost, I will begin to speak. And as I do, I thank you, Father, that the Holy Ghost will give me the ability to accomplish it!
Now, when you stand with God's hands in praise of God, begin by praising Him. Start uttering small sounds audibly. Streams of living water will begin to flow from you as soon as the Holy Spirit begins giving you linguistic inspiration.

Summary - purpose of this celestial language

I Corinthians 14:15 - What should it be like? I want to pray with the Spirit and also want to pray with the mind; I want to sing psalms with the spirit and also want to sing psalms with my mind.

Jude 1:20 But you, my beloved, build yourselves on your most holy faith, and pray in the Holy Spirit.
Your life will never be the same again. As soon as you praise God and pray in the Spirit, streams of supernatural, living water will continually flow out of you.

Please study these lines of Scripture and write behind each one in your own words what sign should follow or follow those who were baptized in the Holy Spirit.

A. Acts 2: 1-4

B. Acts 8: 14-40

C. Acts 10: 4 4-46

D. Acts 19: 2-6

F. 1 Corinthians 14:14

Overview of the New Testament Dr. John Amstutz - Introduction to the New Testament

How does God reveal himself? God reveals himself in the same way as each of us. The God of the Bible reveals himself through words and deeds. In the Word of God is handed down what God has said and done. In creation and through conscience he reveals his great power and divine sovereignty. In the covenant and through his commandments, he reveals his loving bond and his just demands on the people. He also reveals his mercy in saving action. We see all this in the New Testament, which has its focal point in God's Son, Jesus Christ.

Introduction to the New Testament   Introduction to the New Testament

The Bible is a unique book that comes from God himself.

Divine: It is the Word of God (2 Timothy 3: 16a).

Human: It is the Word of God that was transported through the words of people who lived in history themselves - 2 Peter 1: 20-21.
So the Bible is a divine and a human book at the same time, just as Jesus Christ was at the same time completely God and human. Because He is the living Word of God.

Why was the Bible written?

To teach salvation through faith in Christ (2 Timothy 3: 14-15).

On what Bible did Timothy have at that time, Paul refer here?

The Old Testament.

If even the Old Testament can teach someone to salvation, how much more then the NT, which Jesus has as the central focus.

To equip for all good works (2 Timothy 3: 16-17).

How does that happen?

By teaching us what is right and true.
By re-directing us when we are strong.
By correcting us and showing us how to do it right.
By training us in a sincere relationship.

The word "testament" means covenant, or in other words: agreement between God and man, there is the old agreement and the new agreement, the new one is the basis of the old one.

God's eternal covenant

God promised 3 things:

1. I will be your God - Divine "Overseer" (Genesis 17: 7; 26:24; 28: 13,14).
2. You will be my people - divine relationship (Deuteronomy / Deuteronomy : 12,13).
3. I want to live among you - divine communion (Exodus / Exodus 29: 45-46).

The constant rebellion of humans.

The transgressing covenant - (Daniel 9: 4b-6).
A new covenant is foreseen - (Jeremiah 31: 31-33).

Between the Old and New Testament.

God no longer spoke to His people (Arnos 8: 11-12).

There was a prophetic drought that lasted 400 years.
God did not deliver His people (Hosea 3: 4-5).

The Messiah of God, born "when the time was come" (Galatians 4: 4).

Religious: Preparation in the Jewish world.
By Legality and the Temple Service.

Cultural: in the greek world
one language

Political: in the Roman World
World Peace

Good Streets
The Legalization of the Jewish Religion.

Historical Books: The Four Gospels and Acts (The Dawn of the New Covenant)

Textbooks: The 21 Letters (Illustration of the New Covenant).

Prophetic Book: The Revelation (The Completion of the New Covenant).

This is just the beginning and preparation for what God has in mind for us forever when we recognize Him as God in His fullness.
We will be His perfect people. Not only will we live with Him, we will see Him face to face.
